Lola's House Puppy Training Burton

About Us – The Story Behind Lola’s House

The story of Lola’s House starts with Lola — a dog who loves spending time with her friends. What began as something we loved to do has grown into a business we’re proud of.

Along the way, we became qualified dog trainers and built a calm, structured environment where every dog can thrive. On this page, you’ll meet Jack, Chloe, and Lola, and discover how it all came to life.

Our Story

Lola’s House didn’t begin as a business plan — it began with Lola. We’d both finished studying science-based degrees at university and were working together under the bright lights of a pharmacy. But it didn’t take long to realise that wasn’t the career path for us. We wanted to build something we loved and something that would enrich Lola’s life too.

Lola was four years old then. Although we loved her to bits, she certainly wasn’t the most well-behaved cocker spaniel in the local area. Over the years, she’s taught us so much about dogs, training, and behaviour — and in return we’ve learned how to give her exactly what she needs. Seeing her grow into a calmer, happier dog has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey, and it’s shaped everything we’ve done since. From day one, creating an environment where she (and every dog who joined her) could feel at ease was non-negotiable.

When we launched Lola’s House, we were excited and nervous in equal measure. We built our own website, bought a business phone, and half expected nobody to get in touch. But within just a couple of months, we had no availability left. Since then, we’ve studied, trained, and become qualified dog trainers, with a particular focus on puppy training. We've launched The Puppy Programme — taking that step was another leap of faith — but one that has been just as rewarding as starting Lola’s House itself.

Alongside building the business, we’ve built a life. We’ve got married, bought our first home, and poured ourselves into creating a business that is more than just a service. For us, Lola’s House is about helping every dog grow into the calm, confident, happy companion they’re meant to be.

And it all began with Lola: the dog who continues to inspire everything we do.

Meet Lola

Hi, I’m Lola — a 10-year-old working cocker spaniel and the heart of Lola’s House. I’ll be honest, for the first part of my life I was a little bit crazy and more than a little bit naughty (what can I say, I’m a spaniel!). But since Jack and Chloe started studying all these fancy dog training courses and qualifications, they’ve learned how to understand me much better. These days I feel calmer, happier, and far more content with life.

You’ve probably seen my face all over this website (it’s hard to miss, I know). And yes, I promise I’m even cuter in real life. Since Lola’s House began, I’ve met so many lovely friends, and I love spending my days with them all. I like to think of myself as the hostess here — setting the tone, keeping things calm, and showing new dogs the ropes. On the one paw, it’s a big responsibility… but on the other paw, I do get to spend all day with Jack & Chloe.

Favourite thing: Walkies at the park with my best friends.

Meet Jack

Hi, I’m Jack — co-founder of Lola’s House. I’ve always wanted to run my own business, and starting Lola’s House gave me the chance to finally do that in a way that mattered to me. I’m a bit of a perfectionist by nature, which means I throw myself into everything — from building and managing our website to making sure every dog that walks through our door feels safe and cared for.

Away from the day-to-day tasks, I’m someone who likes structure and balance. I’ve always been curious and detail-focused, which probably comes from my science background, but working with dogs has taught me patience and adaptability in ways no classroom ever could. It’s a role that keeps me learning and growing all the time — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Growing up, I always wanted a dog but was never allowed one, so being surrounded by dogs every single day of the year feels like a dream come true.

Favourite thing: Seeing the difference that training a puppy correctly can make — not just to the dog, but to their owner’s life too.

Meet Chloe

Hi, I’m Chloe — co-founder of Lola’s House. For me, starting Lola’s House was about more than running a business. I wanted to spend as much time as possible with Lola, to make sure she had the best life, and to build something I could feel personally invested in. Being my own boss and working with dogs every day felt like the right path — one that would give both purpose and joy.

I’ve always had a natural bond with dogs. One of my earliest memories is hanging onto my family’s chocolate Labrador, Lockey, when I was just five years old. That connection has only grown stronger over the years. I’m nurturing and intuitive with the dogs, and seeing the change in Lola — from a mischievous spaniel to a calmer, happier companion — showed me just how powerful the right environment and training can be.

Creativity is something I also bring into the business, from shaping our marketing to designing the look and feel of Lola’s House. It’s important to me that everything reflects the calm, welcoming space we’ve worked so hard to build.

Favourite thing: Watching Lola live her best life — spending time with her friends and becoming truly happy.
